Speaker 1:

Hey everybody and welcome to Centre Pass, a roundabout podcast about a man talking netball and getting criticised for it. And today we're going to talk about the big game tomorrow, where Rumballara will play Deniliquin at Rumballara. Now, this is probably well, this is one of the next three games that Rumballara are going toiliquin at Rumballara Now, this is probably well, this is one of the next three games that Rumballara are going to face. That is going to be tough. So, yeah, they're facing the 2022 premiers in Deniliquin. Beat them resoundingly earlier on in the year. But coming into it, their last three games Rumballara they've got Deniliquin Moama, which is going to be an absolute cracker, and then they've got um Tony coming up last.

Speaker 1:

So, uh, this year for Daniloquin, for Denny, there's probably hasn't been the year that they thought. So they went undefeated last year and got knocked out in straight sets, so they're probably thinking that they'll be able to come back and um have a bit of a crack this year. So they're sitting six at the moment, so they're a game behind finley. Um, they are two games in front of mawaila. Um, you'd probably think that they will stay sixth I mean um or make finals at least. Um unless I mean mawaila have been playing some exceptional netball in the last couple of weeks and I think they've got a couple of easy games, where Dylan Coen's got a couple of hard ones. So I mean it all could come down to the last game that they play in the Murray League before finals. But, as I said, tomorrow they come up against an undefeated Rumballara side that are still hungry. So coming off a bye or a split round, so they're both going to be fresh Injury concerns. I think I'm not too sure whether Jess Bamblett is going to be still off, but a big congratulations to Jess Bamblett for being named as the under-23s assistant coach for the Indigenous side, which are going to be running a carnival or a new concept for Indigenous players in September. So congratulations to Jess for being named the assistant coach for that. She's well-deserved. Has done a great job over the last five years with Rumballara playing finals, getting into a grand final against Denlequin two years ago and unfortunately or three years ago, whatever it was and unfortunately losing it. So tomorrow, as I said it's going to be, this is one of three of the last three games that Rumballara really need to win to stamp their authority to go undefeated all year, and it starts off tomorrow with Dinelequin at Rumbelara.

Speaker 1:

As I said, with Denny, they probably thought that they would have had a little bit better or, you know, maybe were higher up in the ladder this year. Unfortunately they've had some injuries, uh, change of players, um, random maxwell still a coach, still plays in that goal shooter um area. So they, they, I think they've had a few, yeah few positional changes, few um personnel changes, um, so they're sort of not a new side, but, you know, a reasonably new side. So if you go back to round one, I mean they um, yeah, put the sword to finley so they really beat, they resolutely beat finley in round one. In round two, um, nathalia beat them. So that was the start of people scratching their heads about denilico and thinking, well, what's going on there? You know, nathalia beat them by two goals in round two. So you would have thought, with the injuries that Nathalia had as well, that Denny might have gotten over the line. Round three, denny got beaten by Moema by seven goals. So again, so two games in a row that they lost. So it was probably one of those games that they probably thought they would have won.

Speaker 1:

And we go into round four and they played Moela. So they beat Moela by 10 goals and then they come up against, yeah, rumbelaar. So this game in round five it was at Denny and it was a 30-goal win to Rumbelara, so 72-42. So tomorrow will be a different story for Dunlap. As I said, they are sitting six, one game behind Finlay, two games in front of Moela. They have probably got a point to prove that. You know, they're not the side that has probably played this year. So they probably have had a bit of disappointments Rihanna's probably. You know they've probably looked at a couple of games and thought that they probably could have won those games, but unfortunately they didn't. So, as I said, they are sitting sixth. They probably would have liked to have been sitting a little bit further up the ladder. If we go to the last game that they played before the bye, who did they play? They played, yeah. So they played Cobram. An easy win, 28 goals or whatever it was. And then round 14, yeah, round 14, they played Moema and lost again by eight goals to Moema. So probably disappointing for Rihanna this year in where they thought they were going to be to where they actually are going to be.

Speaker 1:

Then we go into Rumballara. Well, everyone knows that they are undefeated at the moment. They want to stay undefeated, so tomorrow will be a big game for them. As I said, I'm not too sure whether they have got Jessie Bambler back. So she did her ankle against Moela three weeks ago, maybe two weeks ago or three weeks ago, so she might be back tomorrow. Tomorrow I'm not too sure whether they'll whether she'll take the chance. Tash Bamblett, when they played the Chuky United, did a really, really good job in in that defensive circle with Tiana Steele. So against the Chuky United they also didn't have Sarah, so she was running a marathon, which which is, yeah, unbelievable in its own to actually go over to America and run a marathon. So great effort by Sarah. So tomorrow will be a full side if Jess Bamblett does play. If she doesn't, yeah, as I said, they've got Tash there, so it'll be big arcs for Tash and Tiana up against Rihanna Maxwell, who is a quality shooter in her own sense. But, yeah, with Denny.

Speaker 1:

As I said, it's probably a disappointment this year where they are. It's getting to the pointy end of the season. So Rumble want to stay undefeated. They want to be able to go into the. I think I honestly don't think they'll lose top spot if they lost their last three games. They don't want to lose their last three games. I don't think they'll lose top spot or they could Losing three games. They will. But they'll have a week off, first week of finals and then it really starts for them.

Speaker 1:

So next week's game against Moama, which is the second last round of the season, there will be a preview of the second semifinal at Rumbelara Rumbelara versus Moama and I've said from a while back, there probably will be the preview for the grand final, unless something drastic happens, unless Tongayla all of a sudden come up, but I mean Tongayla had a loss last week. Finlay could come up, but I can't see sides beating Moema or Rumbeller in the last three games. As I said, next week will be a cracking game Rumbler versus Moama. But this week we are concentrating, as I said, on the Denelec and Graham. Denny would want to come out and, as I said before, prove a point. They want to be able to come out and play some good netball. They know how to play good netball. They know what finals are about. So it looks like they're going to play finals again. So they went back-to-back four years ago. So they know what finals are about. They know what they need to do to get to finals.

Speaker 1:

So tomorrow there will be a cracking game, you know, and it will be all about which either side gets on top first, whether Rambalara settles first, whether Danny settles first. It will be a big crowd at Rambalara and the weather's meant to be cracking. But yeah, as I said, danny have got a point to prove that they're not you know, they're not a number six side. I don't think they are. I think there's just a couple of things haven't gone their way this year.

Speaker 1:

Rambalara have got a point to prove they want to be able to win again, stay undefeated coming into the last two games, and it's probably a great thing. Like the draw has probably worked out well for Rumbelara. So, but playing those last three hard games is going to sit them in good stead for finals, where you know you don't want to be playing bottom size and beating them by 70, 80 goals. You want to be able to be still on point and still be able to compete and be able to, you know, have that pressure, and they will. They will. Rumble R will have that pressure for the next three games and you know they could drop one of them or they could go completely undefeated or they could drop the whole three of them, who knows? Um. But the next three games are pressure on. Rumble are to continue on where they are.

Speaker 1:

As I said, denilico and tomorrow they want to come out strong. I want to come out quick, they want to come out first, try and get a score on the board, try and put the pressure back on. Rumble are in front of rumbleumbelara's home ground in their home crowd. So, yeah, this will be an interesting game. It'll be a great game. Yeah, and, as I said, I think Denny would want to prove how good they are.

Speaker 1:

They're not a top six, they're not a sixth side, they're more than that, they're about a third or fourth side. As I said, unfortunately they dropped some games where they probably shouldn't have dropped games. They've got some new personnel in shooting and in defense, so it'll be interesting to see, as I said, it'll be interesting to see whether Jess Bamblett actually plays tomorrow against Danny and whether she plays with Tiana Steele in that defensive circle or whether Tash Bamblett will play with Tiana. They played against the Chuky United and no discredit to the Chuky United, no disrespect. But it was the Chuky United and they seemed to work it out. But tomorrow you're coming up against a shooter that's very well poised and has got a lot of experience in rihanna maxwell, who's the coach as well, so it'll be a different story. You really need that, that clink in the chain, to be there in um, jess bammer, but wait and see who runs out on that court and who warms up tomorrow. Um, so yeah, so that is the preview of the denny and rumballara game for tomorrow at Rumballara at 1.30.

Speaker 1:

The last three games of the year. It's hard to yeah, it's hard to fathom that there's only three more games left and then finals. So you're looking at what's that? Seven games, seven games of Murray League left for this year. It's been a great year, yeah, it's yeah for Rumballara trying to go undefeated and sides chasing them. So it's been a great year for Rumballara. Great year all round.

Speaker 1:

There's been some quality games. I mean round two. Rumballara versus Moama was absolutely probably one of the best games I've ever seen of netball. Next week probably be the same. But tomorrow, rumballara against Danilo Quinn at Rumbelara at 1.30. I think you'll see a better side come out onto the court than what you did the last time that Rumbelara and Danny met. So, danny, I'm pretty sure they will bring their A-plus game tomorrow and it'll be up to Rumbelara on how they qual that and how they respond to it.

Speaker 1:

So thank you for listening, much appreciated. As I said, I'm just a man that comments on netball and gets criticized for it. Love what I do. But yeah, if you're local, you want to see some good games tomorrow, go see Rumbler. Danilo Quinn my pick, I reckon Rumbelara. It won't be a blowout. It won't be 30 goals like it was before, because Danilo are a better side than that. I really think it'll probably be about a 10-goal, maybe 15-goal win to Rumbelara tomorrow. But yeah, that is me. Enough said, Thank you for listening and I will have the review of the game on sunday. Um, and it will be a cracking game tomorrow. I don't think it's going to be a walkover. Anyway, I'm out. Bye, bye, have a great weekend. Say good day to your loved ones. Bye, I'm out. Outro Music.
